[CLOSED] Hard surface artist for science fiction game

Responsibilities
Bad Galaxy Games is seeking a driven and talented hard-surface modeler to create realistic, high-quality spaceship models for an upcoming science fiction game about exploring derelict space craft.

The nature of the game means that the player will be able to view the entire model from a distance or approach it from a first person perspective, so the models need to support multiple levels of detail with performant materials and geometry. This means you'll need to know techniques for efficiently texturing large assets, such as tileable materials and trimsheets.

Initially we'll be looking for two ship models on a fairly tight timeline, but if things go well there will be an opportunity for more work along the same lines. Payment is negotiable, based on industry-standard rates.

We're a small team, and so we're looking for someone who feels comfortable owning their own space, working with partial direction, and being a creative voice on the project.

Qualifications
  • A passion for science fiction and spaceship design.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to design collaboratively.
  • Experience with industry-standard modeling software such as Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max, including working with weighted normals.
  • Experience with material generation tools such as Quixel Mixer or Substance Designer is a plus.
  • Importing assets into Unreal is part of the job, so experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5 is key.
  • Must be able to match artistic style of existing assets and provided reference designs.

Location
Remote within USA
