[Full Time] Senior Environment Artist - Loric Games (Arlington, VA)

Loric Games is newly funded studio built by a passion for immersive storytelling and cooperative games. We aim to inspire adventurers within fantastical worlds that are brought to life through shared story-driven experience.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Environment Artist that can be a leading contributor supporting our first story-driven survival game. This role is responsible for owning the visual development of our game through environment asset modeling, layout, and implementation. You will report to the Studio Art Director and work closely with Design and Engineering to ensure consistent visual quality that helps build a fantastical world for our players.

Loric Games is a mix of highly connected in-office and remote game developers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in the game industry as an environment artist with multiple shipped titles
  • Experience leading and owning environment art production across teams
  • High proficiency of a major 3D software (Maya or Blender), Substance Designer/Painter, and Photoshop
  • Excellent high and low poly modeling skills, as well as skill with texture and shader creation within a PBR pipeline
  • Experience with scene lighting, modular design, and layout is a plus
  • Ability to rapidly master proprietary tools and development pipelines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively coordinate with producers, programmers, designers, as well as artists both internally and externally
  • In-depth knowledge with Unity and game development pipelines
  • A strong passion for gaming

Responsibilities

  • Own all aspects of the environment art production pipeline overseeing asset creation and integration
  • Provide strong leadership and mentorship to artists by providing feedback, guidance, and training
  • Create (sculpt, model, UV, texture and create materials) AAA quality environment assets
  • Work closely with the Studio Art Director to ensure the visual target is always exceeded and stylistically consistent
  • Actively participate in technical and aesthetic problem solving discussions for the entire project
  • Work with the Engineering team to identify tools and develop solutions that can meet visual and user experience targets
  • Create and maintain a transparent and reliable schedule coordinated with department leads

Portfolio

  • A digital portfolio that demonstrates a range of high quality 3D environments and related assets
  • Examples of modeled, textured and lit environments that include architectural assets
  • Real-time shader examples and stylized art is a plus
  • Advance material and rendering samples a plus
