on an old windows7 pc, will maya 2020.1 work with nvidia game ready driver v473.12 ( the nvidia driver v470 series started in june 2021, so not sure if maya 2020.1 would recognise it at all ,as the driver came out after the maya version, i know these days maya doesnt support windows7 at all, so just hoping somebody had success ), as nvidia studio drivers are no longer being offered by nvidia, so far the v470 series drivers hasnt worked, has anybody got nvidia game ready drivers to work with maya as this is all nvidia offer to windows 7 systems these days

What kind of troubles do you see? I assume the drivers should work.
There's nothing special about the studio drivers and Maya's viewport is about 10 years behind the cutting edge.
It's very unlikely you'll have any problems
autodesk forums say Maya 2020 can only handle up to nvidia driver 452.06 another thread says
add to" Maya.env" file basic text file
MAYA_OPENCL_IGNORE_DRIVER_VERSION=1
this was to get xgen open cl error working on later nvidia drivers in maya
but wasnt sure if this should get a later nvidia driver working for the maya gpu driver part
as well.
I use Maya 2019 with newer drivers than that, with no issue.
I think Windows 7 is the wildcard here.
to get it to work when installing the last availiable games ready windows7 nvidia driver use a clean install NOT an express install and use custom do not install geforce experience,
if you can roll back it means probably it will not work as the old driver bits confuse maya....didnt work on an express install...
did work on a clean install
I've only ever used NVIDIA game ready drivers with Maya. For years and years and years. I don't think any problems you're having are from the drivers.
