Hi, im looking to upgrade my old 1060 6 gb into something more powerfull.
Ideally i would love to upgrade just the GPU but it looks like im gonna have to upgrade my mother board and the CPU aswell because of the bottlenecking.
My current rig:
Ryzen 7 1800x
16 GB @ 1199MHz RAM
B350 GAMING PLUS (MS-7A34) (AM4).
Im thinking about
EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING 12G LHR.
Now, i know very little about hardware but bottleneck calculator is showing about 30%. I really need that massive performance boost right now so if i ignore this bottleneck and still go for that GPU how much of a performance boost will i get compared to my old one?
If upgrading CPU and MB is unavoidable which parts would you guys recommend?
I use Blender, Subsance painter and marmset. My only concern is to boost performance in these programs. I also play dota 2 but i get 100 FPS with my current rig so im not worried about it too much.
THanks!

That GPU would be a massive upgrade for anything GPU-bound (so viewports in 3D apps , game engines, and any GPU-based renderers).
Your ram speed though is quite bad, looks like you're running DDR4 2400 (DDR means double data rate so 2400/2 = 1200), which is just above the lowest spec ddr4 ram made. You definitely want something better then that, at least DDR4 3200 (higher is better) at CL16 (lower is better). Also 16GB is very little for creating 3D art these days, with 32GB generally being considered the minimum (64GB is the recommended amount for UE5).
Also, do you have an SSD? If not that's also something that can have a big impact on performance.
Yea i have all my 3d software on SSD. Do you think my motherboard will be able to support new RAM upgrade?
Yes your board supports up to 64GB of DDR4 3200. Though you'll want to upgrade to a new motherboard either way if you plan on upgrading your CPU (5900X or 5950X would be my recommendation, both of which have come down a lot in price lately).
thanks! any recomendations on the MB?
The Asus X570 Dark Hero motherboard is the one I'd recommend atm (It's what I use in my current PC).
Its kind of overkill for most people, but I recommend it because of some of its component being very high quality and designed to handle overclocking, which is VERY easy to do these days thanks to PBO (enable in bios to safely auto-overclock the CPU) and DOCP/XMP (enable in bios to safely auto-overclock the ram). Plus it supports up to 128GB of ram and has passive chipset cooling (no additional noise or worries about fan failing and causing overheating unlike a lot of other X570 boards).
GL in general finding any gpu's nowadays, other than possibly second hand/scalped , especially 3x series.
If you don't want to bottleneck yourself as mentioned, you can greatly benefit from a 2x series rtx
otherwise could consider getting a cpu upgrade (which domino effects into a new motherboard, cpu, motherboard, possibly case etc.). Your call.
@Kanni3d Actually within the past month or so RTX 3000 series GPUs have become plentiful again, Nvidia is even running an advertising campaign about it. You can see tons of deals for GPUs near MSRP over here: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/new/
thinking about this one.
its $1.550 how far away from msrp is it? :D maybe i should look for other 3080
MSRP for that card is $1.299 in the USA, but I'm not sure how much import costs would normally be added on for people buying in the Czech Republic (looks like that's where the company you're buying from is).
So the price is not really that jacked considering the import costs. Ill just start with the GPU and then upgrade the rest of my components later. Thanks for help guys!
https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=12G-P5-4877-KL They want $999 with a rebate for that card! Which sounds good to me.. if you were in NA :(.
There is a slim chance stock in the EU/UK might start to make gpus prices not completely insane as well in a couple months. I do expect crypo to shoot up again in the time though. So really there isn't much incentive to "wait" if you need a card, as there might be nothing to out wait, nvid gpus might not ever drop to MSRP in the EU/UK.
