How do i make translucency map for Unreal Enigne? Trying to make nature assets. Weird, i tried to google solution and every time it is all about transparent (black and white variant). Can i make it in photoshop? Or should i bake it? (I'm using Blender for modeling). I mean translucency like this one>
Transparency is a single value i.e. 0 = fully transparent 100 = fully opaque
Make a black and white map in the first instance. You probably don't want to use "transparency" but "masking" instead for foliage, it's better performance.
That is a translucency map though you need to set the shading model to 2 sided foliage, and then the subsurface color input will open up where you can hook up the translucency map.
I might be wrong, but the way I've done it is just make some edits from the albedo map in photoshop. It's purely artistic, no science (not when I do it anyway.) Usually it's a little brighter, just plug it in and tweak it till your leaves are looking nice.
