How do you start anatomy studies

Hi, I would just like to get some help on how to approach anatomy studies. Do I work on short timed studies or do I work on a piece no matter how long it takes? Do I work on small anatomy body pieces or do full body at the start? I am just not to sure where to start. if anyone could let me know how to start  or how they started to learn anatomy and there approach  that would be great.

I would do a  simple character bust instead of doing an entire character. Make sure you have plenty of reference.
