Hey everyone! Finally finished this game ready statue of a grotesque/gargoyle and would love to hear what you guys of the final renders! I received a lot of feedback from other polycount forums so I seriously appreciate all the help for everyone!
This prop was originally started with a focus on practicing traditional pipelines and efficiency in games and I had a lot of fun with it!
@teodar23 Yeah definitely agree. I feel I could have reduced the amount of poly's on the head by a lot. I optimised a lot but a bit more would have definitely been noticeable!
Luckily in newer engine's like UE 4.26 polycount really isn't an issue anymore and is rarely the cause of an increase in cost so I spent more time optimising the UV's and materials. But it would have still looked good to still keep the polycount in a tighter frame so I agree in a sense.
