I'm a student at Lynn University's game art program and will be trying to create a (medieval time period) brawler. The concept itself is my own character, and will end up as a stylized 3D model.
I'm not sure if you're done with this, but for your next model I would try to push the stylization more, think hard edges, look at clash of clans, Disney infinity, or any game that you think has the style you are going for. For your texture, I think the use of subtle gradients would make it pop a lot more. Think of it as overlaying a gradient that is white at his head and black at his feet. Then take that a step further by also adding gradients to the individual pieces of clothing. You can fake SSS in his skin by painting some redness on his nose, ears, and finger tips. I would also familiarize your self with the color zones of the face and body and use that to give your self a bit more color variation. If possible, try to find more ways to break the symmetry you have in your model. Lastly, I would take the shield and shoulder pads and scale them up a big to break up the silhouette a bit more. Keep at it tho, each model will get way better
