3DS Max Zoom Issues with a Wacom Tablet

I'm using 3ds Max with a Wacom tablet and the navigation is kind of frustrating. It's solely because the zoom sensitivity seems to be set with no tools to adjust. If I use a mouse, I can increase or decrease the sensitivity, but it doesn't apply those settings to a tablet. That leaves me in situations where if I'm trying to finesse a model I'm lightspeeding in and out and have difficulty getting to the smaller pieces I want to work on.

Am I missing something? I am new to Max so I might have overlooked something.

I get this intermittently with my vertical mouse. Rolling the middle mouse wheel will zoom way too fast. If I hold the Ctrl key and roll the wheel, this seems to reset it to regular behavior.

Also have you tried a web search or Polycount search about it? I vaguely recall others having this issue. Perhaps someone shared a solution.

I have and didn't see anything. I did find that by hitting ctrl/shift/z it resets the viewports so the objects are fully in view but it also made the zoom with a tablet work a little better. I also noticed that zoom works more smoothly if you're zooming on something that's at the world center and less so if you're farther out. It's odd that there's that difference.

I should clarify, I haven't seen anything that specifically addresses this issue. I did see that first post on duckduckgo and that's exactly what I want to know too, but no one replied to the post. That Zoom Increment setting under Customize User Interface/Mouse works great for the mouse but has no effect on the table

Is it more normal for people to use a mouse with Max?

Yes. Though I have heard of users successfully using a tablet stylus.

isn't zooming by pen  is self adjusting  by the distance to an object or something,   I have never had any issues with it  Actually always loved  it over mouse stepped zoom.    Typical Ctrl+Alt+ pen middle button   always worked just fine for me. 

I don't use MAx much anymore  but recall once you release middle pen and  then try to zoom again  it's  doing it slower now related to onscreen object size, the distance  or whatever. Not sure what exactly   but never an issue .    

I actually like MAx style  of  ctrl+Alt  for zooming and Z to focus, all in same keyboard corner  .  Have copied it to my Blender keys  decade ago and couldn't stand  mouses since.

ps. the only issues I had are wacom drivers showing damn circles /ripple effects
