I'm a year 3 Game Art university student. That is currently working on developing my ZBrush and texturing skills. As a first project this year we have been given a brief to create a commercially driven asset, we were given a list of different things to choose from. I choose to model a character from the comic book series Blacksad.
Quick concept drawing of the character I choose to model from Blacksad...
This is my first ZBrush character model and here is how I made it...
PART 1: ZBrush blockout
PART 2: Details!
When merging the body I encountered a problem, where I accidentally lost all my lower subdivisions due to merging the body parts together... So i went into Maya to retopologize the body of the model... before-
after-
with higher subdivisions and the details projected onto it-
PART 3: Hair
PART 4: Clothes + Other
PART 5: Texturing
PART 6: Setting up lighting in Marmoset Toolbag
PART 7: Final render
Final poly count (whole scene): 133,501 Character poly count: 132,791
To conclude, my next goal is too improve my unwrapping skill, texturing and defenitly I want to learn how model clothes and hair better!
Programs I have used to produce this mode: ZBrush, Maya, 3DS Max, Substance Painter and lastly Marmoset Toolbag.
