Is there a way to get Maya's ortho views to behave like Max's. As in, being able to say be in front view then just rotate it into an active othographic view, then be able to hit a hot key to snap it back?
Yeah I understand that, even in Max I have space bound in a similar fashion. What I mean is that you can be working in an orthographic viewport like front/side/top etc, and you can rotate within that viewport breaking it out of its fixed state into a 3d orthographic view. I found the setting to allow me to tumble in a similar fashion in maya, however when i hit the hotkey to go back into a fixed 2d ortho view it doesn't. If that makes sense :P
You could hook some scripts up to mess with a given camera and get similar behaviour but my advice would be to leave well alone - once you've upset a default camera in maya it tends to stay upset.
