I have been working on this Murloc from WoW for fun and am nearly finished with the High Poly sculpt. Any feedback welcome I will be retopping, texturing and rigging him.
I made a couple changes to the High poly - The toes and the end of the fins are a bit bigger/thicker now. Calling the sculpt done and moving onto the Retop.
Here's my progress on the Low Poly so far. I am using Step Build in 3ds Max.
It's turning out good! I've never used 3D coat, always PS, Quixel, or Substance Painter. Just a little bit more detail in the texture and you're going to be all set!
I'm very close to finishing the texture (unless there are any suggestions to improve ) I have tried pushing the highlights a bit more.
The stripe from it's eye still looks a bit flat so I'm going to try and push that a bit more. The hands, feet and fins could do with some more work too I think. Here's how it looks with just the diffuse so far anyway.
I will play around with a roughness map soon to see how it looks. I still want to go for a WoW look so I don't want it too shiny hah.
I definitely want some sort of environment to present it in/on. I might do a plinth with some foliage on.
I refined the Idle a bit more so it's smoother on the loops transition and the fins on top are a bit more bouncy.
I am currently trying to do a run animation but I'm struggling with it because of my lack of animation knowledge. Really I'm just having a bit of fun with them so I might try something else or have a go a bit later on when my plinth is done.
I want to get a plinth done soon so I can take some beauty shots!
Been a while since my last post, sorry! I have been moving house and had no PC to work at.
I managed to get a start on the plinth and presentation for my murloc. Here is a WIP presentation shot. I was wondering if it looked Ok? Anything look weird or off?
I used a WoW screenshot blurred as the backdrop as a test, what do you think of that?

I'm using 3D Coat to paint it.
Are you planning on making a small environment for it as well?

I am going to play around with the rig for a while to try some animations and poses.
Screen to gif doesn't seem to like the colours on the leg lol.
