Hi.
I've looked over the site for information on face weighted normals. I've come across some old depreciated tools and some newer ones that don't offer whats in other packages.
https://polycount.com/discussion/183993/maya-free-face-weighted-vertex-normals-toolThis tool seems to be the most recent but applies bevels to the weighting operation it carries out which I'm confused by as I need a tool that only alters the vertex normals and the in-built Maya vertex tools don't seem to be able to do the FWVN method. I'm currently using an old version of MIG tools that I've slightly updated for stability and UI compatibility but its clunky and sometimes throws up errors.
Is the best approach to offload my models to blender, do the easy process of weighting in that package then bring it back into Maya? What is everyone else doing?
Thanks!
Here's my Mig tools if anyone's wanting a download too. There's also a bit of a UI fix for windows 10 as the windows used to be too small to move around.
