Psyonix is a video game developer located in downtown San Diego. Best known for Rocket League, the award-winning game that combines soccer, driving, and highly competitive and addictive game play, we are an industry-leading game studio rooted in a crunch-free philosophy that emphasizes a healthy work-life balance. We are looking for an experienced Level Designer to help explore and iterate on new game ideas for the studio.

Working directly with our various prototyping teams, you will design and build 3D spaces for new game projects to help shape the final vision for new Psyonix games.

Essential Responsibilities & Job Duties
·Translate concepts and ideas into specific playable levels, including layout, modeling, gameplay, event scripting, and level tuning
·Collaborate with other designers as well as gameplay programmers to iterate and refine new game ideas in 3D space
·Work with 3D art team to define metrics and establish target and final look and feel of levels
·Obtain and analyze team playtest feedback to identify issues and improve usability, fun, and engagement for designed levels
·Research comparable games and incorporate best practices discovered into your own work
·Brainstorm creative solutions to gameplay and development challenges

Qualifications & Requirements
·3+ years of professional game design experience
·Experience with visual level/world building
·Scripting experience with systems like Unreal Blueprint
·Strong written and verbal communication skills 
·Ability to work well with other departments
·Shine in a team environment, be self-motivated and open to feedback

·Shipped at least one game
·Experience building replayable multiplayer spaces (co-op or competitive)
·Proficient with Unreal Engine 4 
·Experience in related disciplines (art, programming, systems design, etc.)
