Environment: The Downfall

So recently I've started working on a environment because I felt that my portfolio was missing a piece with meaning and story.
All feedback and critique is welcome, and hopefully I can improve on my environment and show the progress to you guys.

This is was the environment prior to this, I had to change the colors and learn about the munsell color pallete,

Yesterday I managed to work on my environment and add a temple in the background.
Also I added a banner left by a soldier and 2 axes in the tree's to suggest that there was a battle.
