Hey, a very silly noob question for Max, but is it possible to align the pivot in the direction of the vertex normal?? (pic)... thus allowing vertex's to move in the normal direction rather than on a wonky axis...

You can constrain movement to normals/edges/faces in editable poly settings

Ahh thanks very much, I was expecting the pivot itself to move in the normal direction and didn't realize its always 'out of the way'
Thanks again

If you are using a recent version of Max you can use Local Aligned instead of Local.
