Hi,
Im creating a low-midpoly town that id like to be as modular and customization as possible, and im wondering what the best way to blend between different tiles would be? For example, i have some road tiles (attached) and im going to make a tile that is just grass, but I was wondering what I should do if i wanted to have a nice transition from glass to pavement or pavement to mud. The only way I can currently think of is either create another bespoke texture - or perhaps have a layered material that has 2 textures which blend using a matte?. (Currently each road tile has 2 textures... 1 tiling texture for the pavements and 1 texture for all of the tiles road sections)
Ive attached an examlple of what i mean
Are there any tricks that I dont know of perhaps?
thanks a lot for any help!
Nick

I looked into painting vertex color directly inside Unity, but the performance overhead wasn't great. Might as well pre-paint the blends in your 3d modeling tool, which I did in 3ds Max.
