Easy UV seam question?

Hey, just a really quick question about uv seams that I've never really understood.  I've got a character that I want to use displacements from texturingxyz for skin detail/then use mari to project skin paint etc - never done this before but using Tom Newbury's tuts for this :)

My character has a large nose and a generally large exaggerated face.  I've decided to run the seam right down the middle of the face to avoid any stretching issues (pics).  Is this a good idea/will it effect any displacement/painting? Or is there a better method anyone has?

Many thanks

I'm not a character artist, but putting a seam right on the middle of the face doesn't sound like a good idea because it would be too easy to spot. Try looking online for references of facial UV maps and study where people usually put there seams.

Hey thanks for getting back, I've searched a lot and found this tutorial on the texturingxyz website https://texturing.xyz/pages/marlon-r-nunez-gandhi-the-making-of

The artist used a seam running vertically across the face to avoid stretching when using displacement.  Placing the seams in the usual areas still gives me a lot of 'hot' areas on the nose according to the heat map.

I just wanted to know if this would cause problems for displacements as I'm still not sure lol.  Its not an animation just a still render btw.
