This is my first stylized diorama done in UE4. I will starting with the new personal project similar like this. So, I need some critiques on my work to improve and consider in next project. Thank you !
Hey nice work on the scene. All of the models feel appropriately and consistently exaggerated in terms of volume and detail scale. I think the overall scene is a little busy. The fire, sconces and ax all equally compete for attention since they are similarly high value. You should identify a single focal point in the composition and create a value hierarchy with lighting and materials to lead the eye there. One quick example would be to lower the intensity of the sconces so the fire is a little more dominate. The other thing that stands out to me is some inconsistency in texture detail. For example, the stones are mostly flat color, while the wood table and stools have noticeable high frequency detail. Neither one is necessarily 'correct', but try to be a more consistent across all your textures. It can be helpful to create a style guide before you start. Take some screenshots from existing games (1 or 2 max) that have a texture style you want to emulate so you can reference that when making color, simplification / exaggeration decisions in your texture painting.
