This was my submission for the Wild West ArtStation challenge.
This piece is inspired by a 17th century, Native American Blanket Gun. I had previously found an image of a "condensed" version of the rifle in the form of "Mare's Leg" from the film "Wanted: Dead or Alive". I wanted to create a gun that instantly transported you to the west while also giving it a sense of history, story, and prior use. The "Blanket Gun" concept fit very well with what I wanted to accomplish so it was very easy to start concepting right away. I went through many iterations before settling with the final design.
Cool work! I like the details such as the feather and the Bracelet (excuse my french, now sure how it's called) I believe you could have went with a slightly more contrasted lighting to really make the render pop a little bit more. Great work regardless!
Thank you! And I completely agree. I was still trying different types of lighting but ran out of time. I'll go back and see if I cant bump the contrast up. Thanks for the critique
haha yeah i believe I would too lol Only meant as a last resort in my mind. Since it has a much smaller ammo capacity, I was thinking that once the character ran out of bullets, they would flip it around and start going to town haha
