Hey guys!

I'm working on my portfolio because I'm going to look for a job soon. Below is a stage design model I am working on but it missing soul.

Since the materials are not final yet I would like to get some feedback and hopefully make the design a bit better than it is now. Tips on the presentation are welcome too!

From a theater perspective I feel like the audience will have trouble seeing the actors unless the first row of seating is above the shipwalls. Also I feel like it needs stairs up to the top deck. Very little action can happen up there atm.
If a theater is going to expend the resources to build a ship stage like this, then they probably have the resources to make it look exciting. Don't fear adding details. Break down the relatively simple shapes you have, and embellish them. Even if this ship was being built on a budget someone would go to the local flea market or antique store and buy cheap stuff just to decorate it.
If you are trying to go into theater set design, then maybe also make a simple animation of this where you show how its constructed. If you are using this as a demoreel piece for a commecial 3D art company, then embellish the crap out of it. Pretend its going to be built on Broadway or something.

Hah! It is actually a club stage with a DJ. I have not thought about where to put the speakers and lighting hence why it does not look like a party ship yet. The top deck is actually the VIP area which you get to from the back. Unfortunately I closed the entrance below by accident. The stairs are still there though.
I think you are spot on with the embellishments. It is a nice base I got going but it just need more of everything. It is a bit empty at the moment. Someone else also told me that I needed to add more to the outskirts of the stage. Like palm trees, crates, cages and torches which I think I will.

I have actually thought about animation but I am not 100% yet. It would not only cost a lot of time but the scene would also become quite a bit heavier. What would be the main reason to add this feature in your opinion?

I'm not 100% on the decision yet but I'm calling it finished. I know a lot  more could be added but I feel my energy would be spend better on a different project with more potential than his one.
