Pattern are recruiting for a freelance Unity Lighting Artist.
The Role
We are looking for a Unity Lighting Artist to take a lead lighting role on projects.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with real-time lighting set-ups, ideally within Unity however applicants with other other game engine knowledge should apply as well.
We
are ideally looking for a candidate with a range of experience across
shot / environment lighting, asset/character look development as well
as some rudimentary knowledge of compositing techniques within either
live action or fully CG productions.
Responsibilities
Work with art leads and the art director to create compelling lighting for a variety of environments while maintaining a consistent style throughout the game.
Work closely with the director, and design departments to implement real-time lighting solutions that satisfy aesthetic objectives.
Light
environments while maintaining a balance between visual quality and
performance requirements.
Requirements
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in lighting real-time environments.
A portfolio or demo reel that demonstrates a keen eye for detail and strong understanding of lighting/shading/texturing principles and techniques.
Thorough understanding of real-time lighting techniques (including vertex lighting, dynamic lights, sub surface scattering, HDR, and pre-baked light map solutions).
Strong understanding of lighting/shading/texturing principles and techniques.
Experience of real-time CG lighting and shading workflow.
Technical understanding of lighting pipelines in other engines.
Ideally good understanding of compositing and post-processing principles.
Self-motivation, good communications skills, and a great team player.
Currently be able to work in the UK.
Ideally able to be located on-site in Edinburgh.
