as a londoner I'd heavily recommend meeting in either east London or south London, DEFINITELY not central London (i.e West End/Leicester Sq etc), cause in central London on a Saturday nearing Christmas the pubs are really busy at 5pm time, loads of tourists going to theaters etc, and its not a pleasant place for a normal person to be, while East London and South London are much quieter around 5pm and there is a shit ton of choice around Hackney/Dalston.
The other area I'd recommend is Peckham but only cause thats my manor and Im biased.
ideally if other london people could nominate some areas or specific pubs and we could round it down.
btw, on that day, its Tottenham Vs Chelsea at 5.30pm, so literally every pub is gonna be busy... but I can ask about...

no idea, I assume that the 'dev scene' is full of new faces as people move into profressional roles perhaps they move away from meetup,so the venues are always rotating.
I've chosen The Star by Hackney Downs for now, but I am still personally open to other suggestions.

The first place which springs to mind is Bar Story, which is right below Peckham Rye station, they do good pizza as well and its nice neighbourhood, at 5pm they wont be too busy so it wont be too noisy.
The ones I've been to with meetups a couple of times tend to be Loading Bars, since they're games related. They're okay, pretty quiet and nice if you want to use screens or play games. I kinda disagree with not being centralish, it's just way easier to get to from all parts of London. Not Leicester Square obviously, but also not miles out.

neither Peckham or Hackney or Dalston are considered miles out. for london people they are considered in the middle.
however it appears your prayers have been answered as there is a 'loading bar' on stokenewington rd, which is up the top end of dalston.

that pub will be really busy on saturdays cause its in the theatre area and around 5pm it will have a lot of theatre/musical going people in there for a drink. seriously pllleeeeassseee consider anywhere but central!
thats a tough question, cause I emailed them saying 'can we make a booking for about 10 people on saturday at 5pm, kind regards etc etc Olie, and they replied 'Cool, all sorted!' so I assume its under the name Ollie.

last time (december) we all met in Dalston/Stokenewington at a bar, it was a gaming bar (https://loading.bar/), I dont mind gaming bars, but I'd rather meet somewhere where they serve food cause I was fucking hungry! and on the same street there is Voodoo Ray, which is a good and cheap pizza place.

We will be meeting at The Parcel Yard - Station Masters Office again, which is a bar inside Kings Cross station. We are booked from 4pm-11pm! (yes, they serve food )

I tried organising a meetup for londoners a few weeks ago, but that post didnt get any traction, clearly though I lack lack something in that department.
I'll ask the wife when I get home and see if I can get release for good behaviour. Well done for organising it. I'm going to the GDC meet up tonight as well, whoops 😆
