I have issue with customize quad menu whole day. Seems it wont work of any keyboard combination i try. I save the quad menu, also i save on startup. But just it wont start at all I use 2017v.
1st, Max has many different quad menus, make sure you are editing the right ones. Often you have make changes across several quad menus because they are similar but only pop up under certain conditions when you have specific modifiers or workflows active.
2nd, Max saves the preferences under a sometimes hidden users folder, which can require admin rights to access, but max doesn't throw up a prompt and nothing really changes. So save your customization preferences somewhere else and them load them from that new location to avoid the hidden issue. I personally save mine to cloud storage like dropbox, so i can pull them down anywhere.
3rd, Max writes any changes to the customization files when it closes properly. If max crashes you often will lose any customization you do. It's smart to save, close and relaunch max when you do any meaningful customization.
@Mark Dygert I am not trying to change any quads menu that max provide, i just want to create a new one. But simple, it does not show my new quad menu when click the hotkey.
I think English is not your native language? This makes it difficult to understand your problem. It would help to write your process step by step... what are you doing? What do you want to happen?
For example: 1. Start 3ds Max. 2. Create a box. 3. Right click on box. 4. Quad menu appears. 5. Convert to... 6. Editable Poly.
@Eric Chadwick Well is not, but i think i explained very clearly what i want to achieve. I can not make my own quad menu. It doesn't show on the hotkey i try to assign to my new quad menu shortcut. Even after i save and restart max, it wont come out.
I do this if you want more step by step guide what i do.
1.Open 3ds max. 2.I go to Customize UI Interface 3.then i go to quads menu bar. 4.then i go New, right under what it says Default Viewport Quad. 5.I gave my new quad menu a name 6.I put every tool that i think i will need in the 4 quads. 7.then i click show all quads mark 8.i save it 8.1 Go to advanced quad menu and click Save to Startup 9.Restart max 10.Open it, try the new shortcut key to open my new quad 11.It wont work.
@Axi5 No, never worked, i wanted to do my own quad menu, after i watched some beginners tutorials, and wanted to customized and put everything in quad menu if possible. @Eric Chadwick So, how do put right mouse click as keyboard with something else? Like, m+right mouse click
Boyani, to your last question: if you really want that you could work something out using Autohotkey and change some mouse button when you're in Max. Another option, if you own a mouse that has its own remapping driver software, is to assign RMB to another key or whatever combination of them you want in your keyboard.
But...I don't see why you're so bent on doing this. If you want your own quad menu, just modify one of the existing ones that you'd never use anyway. It's simpler and it's (generally) less stressful for your fingers.
You can't put M + click (like a marking menu in Maya) for a quad menu. Just keyboard shortcuts (M) or Click + modifiers (Shift, Alt, Ctrl + Mouse click).
