Hi everyone,
In my new project, 'Seagull Shack', I will be recreating this cute little concept by the very talented
Catherine Unger:

There is a couple objectives I set myself for this piece:
- Practice hand-painted texturing, a technique I haven't done a ton of, using Substance Painter.
- Accurately reproduce someones style and painting technique I admire to 3D.
This will be unlit with all lighting and shadows painted in, copied as closely as possible from the concept.
The eventual final shots will be presented alongside the model for viewing in Marmoset Viewer or Sketchfab.
FINISHED!

The big task starts next week, not only painting in detail, but making sure to capture all of the technique and brush strokes used by Catherine Unger in her concept, to best replicate it in 3D.
The next part I'm going to get done is all the rocks surrounding the hut.
New update coming next week
I've painted quite a few bits this week; the rocks, seagulls and windows most notably.
I have chosen to concentrate on the front-view for now, as it's helping cement the painting style in my mind. That way when I come to paint the back-view, I can make it suit the art style better.
The task for next week is to paint the roof and porch, as they are pretty much untouched so far and finish up anything else on the front-view that hasn't been done yet.
@FreneticPonies -
Progress has been slow this week, due to a looming redundancy from my current 3D art job. So a lot of time has been spent getting images prepped for my portfolio (>critiques and advice needed, please<).
This update is progress I made prior to that news, still focused on getting the front view finished before tackling the back. Here I have painted the rooftops and was part way through adding the fine paint spatter-like details on.
As I will have whole days at home for a (hopefully) short while, I'm looking to get this project painted and finished within the next week.
I've begun painting the backside of the shack now, using the style I learnt from finishing up the front view.
The main jobs left are to finish off the other half of the roof and add to more detail to the rocks in shadow, behind the shack.
This was a really fun project to work on!
Thanks to Catherine Unger for letting me recreate her concept in 3D.
1050 tris, 1024x1024 diffuse, unlit.

Incredible work by everyone, as usual. Feel like an impostor being amongst them
