*Master Post*
Jan 16Hello fellow creator! I hope I am not too late for this train!
I will be doing a VFX for this custom ability I thought of:
Essence of the Glade (R)
Hurl a magical projectile to a location which detonate upon impact, summoning a strange area which grant everyone inside a high magic resistance. After a period of time a field of flowers blooms in the area, healing all allies and remove all debuff from them.
Midsummer's Daydream (R)
Hurl a magical projectile to a location which detonate upon impact, summons a strange area which renders everyone inside frozen in place and takes 80% reduced magic damage. Once the area expires, all allies inside are healed and becomes immune to all crowd-control effect for 2
/3/4 seconds.
As its name suggest, I draw an inspiration from faerie and the Glade from which Pix originated. The VFX has 6 parts:
- Cast animation ✓- The projectile ✓- Detonation #1 ✓- Lingering area ✓- Detonation #2 ✓- Buff ✓
As I plan for it to be an ultimate ability, I allow myself a bit more room to play with its effect.

A mockup to see how it would/should look like.
This spell takes 9 seconds to finish so it is probably weak. Joke aside, I will be using Unity for this entry.

The cast animation. I also change the name of the 'spell'
Midsummer's Daydream (R)
Hurl a magical projectile to a location which detonate upon impact, summons a strange area which renders everyone inside frozen in place and takes 80% reduced magic damage. Once the area expires, all allies inside are healed and becomes immune to all crow-control effect for 2 seconds.

I've changed things for a bit, because the mockup version's projectile trajectory would be very impractical to code and also gameplay-wise (imagine it hovering and Yasuo came and use his Wind Wall). In this new version, the 'physics' of casting animation would support a straight trajectory of the projectile, and it also look more fun!.
I also changed the color for quite a bit. I take a look at Elderwood LeBlanc and Death Blossom Kha'Zix because they have the closest color palette for my reference, and I've decided to reduce the purple and add more teal, to make it not very arcane and more 'natural'.

The projectile!

I've also changed the first 'pop' effect of the cast animation. It's not to my satisfaction and I think I need to experiment on it more

What do you guys think?
Only thing that really stands out to me at the moment is that at the impact, the projectile slightly misses the target, not sure if that's intentional or not.
Ahaha I have to live with it for a while. It is actually unintentional (the script messes with the timing, so sad) but the spell is supposed to be AoE like Bard's R, so I think it's not too bad.
But yeah, I should fix it if I have time tweaking. It's quite annoying for the observant viewer isn't it. Oh, by the way, your laser is super awesome!
Edit: Fixed it. The culprit is not the script but the missile;s keyframe *facepalm*
Picture is super big so I put it in a spoiler!
Anyway, no real update here. I've laid down the 'border' of the area and I'm making a texture for THE area. The pattern is modeled with parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme motifs. I'm actually struggling for the pattern and Scarborough Fair came to my mind. It's lyrics is folklore-ish, fairy tale-ish so it would fit nicely with the theme. This site also claims that they have kinda magical properties so I think they would work. The site mention that thyme has special connection with fairies, so I put it in the center
That's it for now. I'm off to make the texture. See you guys!

Edit: It's sooooo pretty now IMO but I'll update it once everything regarding the lingering area is set and done.
I personally think it could look even cooler if the flower and cracks occasionally pulse power and light, or had like some energy slowly seeping out from them if you wanted to take it a step further.
Also what about making the sphere higher poly so that you can't see the hard edges at the top?
Don't worry, it's gonna be in the animated version for sure! And I went back and increase the poly of the sphere already so no need to worry about that. I think I might deliver something tonight (where I live) but so far so good!
Can't wait to see the animated version ^^

I was thinking about adding some mushroom and flowers sprouting, but it is almost overwhelming right now so I guess I have to drop that idea *sigh*.
//Note that I reference the duration and motion from Kindred's R, which I think has the most beautiful VFX and SFX.
What will be in the final version:
- The glowing orb that grows as the 'ring' draw closer. This would help indicate the expiration.
- Possibly some particle that float still inside the dome during the first part. This is to visualize that movement are stopped inside the area.
- Mandatory detonation effect, but with softer feels because you are being healed!
- I might do something with the border particle.
This is perfect!

PS. If your plan to meet up with your friend turns from 1 hour to 8 hours, you're probably doing something wrong.

I add an additional flash of light to signifies when the area expires, and also some tweak in particle movement. I am super happy I can get that 'swirling magical cloud' working now.

Fun fact: The buff (That small half barrier at the end) that grants crowd control immunity is internally named 'Petrichor'. It means the fresh smell after the rain, and nothing but it would refresh you from the daydream inside the pocket Glade!
Fun fact 02: This is WIP because some particle needs to be tweaked, namely the green spore at the area expiration. It lasts longer than the buff!

Thank you everyone! I want to say something more elaborated but I just cannot think of one. This is the first ever worldwide official contest I've entered and it's so amazing to meet so many talented people here. Don't forget to submit by 31st! Cheers for you all!
I intend it to be like an AoE heal impact like Kindred's R, so it is kinda tricky to create a buff application for sure. There's still a lot of thing for me to learn.
