Late to the party, but comin' in hot!
Hey guys! It's super early in the development and there's only concept for neutral camp so far, but I really wanna share what i've got and also establish my theme.
So without further ado, I give you... a little piece of Primordial Summoner's rift!
Keep in mind that this is super raw. I will be cleaning it up and fleshing out all the details.
In my concept I wanted to imagine how summoner's rift would've looked eons before first humans ever laid eyes on it.
Vibrant, teeming with life and pristine.
I've also taken the time to think of the inhabitants of this oasis of raw nature.
Meet
Tort, the Snapjaw turtle and
Bella, the Pitcher plant.
They are two separate creatures, that coexist in symbiotic manner.
Tort carries Bella on his back for the sheer purpose of looking pretty. Despite being ancient, this turtle seems to be quite fashionable
And Bella just likes to travel, but turns out plants don't make very good travelers. So she's always happy when Tort decides to saunter around.
On a side note: Tort gets really anxious when people call him a monster or mention pockets around him. He's also afraid of spherical objects for some reason.Stay tuned for further development.

I've got the first iteration for the stag tower down. It will be more detailed, coverd with swirly square-like ornaments and runes, not unlike the current tower itself.
I'll also work on a red tower as well. Stay tuned for that.
Cleaned up the lineart and started painting but decided to better work off of a sculpt.
And here's a blockin model
@Sage, @praetus
Thank you guys!
This is a pretty dirty sculpt but It's sufficient for AO/Cavity maps.
Aight, folks. So here's the latest progress shot
Tried to do a decently optimized LP, hit just under 4k triangles.
Hopefully I can cram 2-3 weeks worth of full time production in a couple of weekends and some evenings
Cheers
P-p-progress time!
Right side and middle stone almost done!
Slapped that bad boy onto a piece of rift screenshot to paint that seamless transition! We're all about seamless here!
Also, pardon the lack of ferns at this stage. They look way too busy, I'm thinking on how to rework them.
Neutral camp is 90% done. Gotta clean up some stuff here and there, paint some minor things like smaller leaves on the lianas, add some small bells and whistles and do a global shadow and value pass.
Right, so here's the final progress shot. Got a little sunshine there, to get that vitamin D going!
Will post the beautyshots and UV mapping after sending in the submission.
Meanwhile, gotta get nose to that turret grindstone!
The unconventional design is starting to feel like a gamble.
I apply the subdivs and send the model to ZBrush for some sculpting and when i'm done I can shoot it straight back to maya and use the non-subdivided mesh as a base for the gameres. Really shortens the retopo time for simple assets like this tower here.
All of the lowpoly, mapping and various bakes took me about 5 hours today
Here's the base gameres in the set up scene. Let the painting commence!
Your tower is looking really great, I love the color scheme. The only thing i would say is that it looks sort of squished but that may be just due to the camera angle, shouldn't really be a problem.
Texture progress. Gotta finish tomorrow.
And here's the final little update for the den. Figured i had some spare time so here goes
This concludes over 50 hours of handpainting in the span of last 3 days.
Gonna compile all this stuff into pretty package tomorrow and sleep for a couple of days lol
I still have 25 or so hours left to paint mine lmao
Final pics!
More stuff at Artstation
Congrats to everyone who participated! You're all awesome!
Keep rockin'!
@brettmarshalltucker I basically just painted on a transparent layer, saved the image as png and used it as texture. Dodge tool, Color dodge blending mode give a nice clean color if you experiment a little bit.
So VFX is mostly trial and error result
Nice to see your work progress throughout.
