Sketchbook: BitBiscuits

Hi everyone!

I’m a 2D artist making my way towards becoming a 3D artist.

Here’s my Arstation if anyone wants to take a peak.

Comments and critiques are very much appreciated!

    Here's a character I'm currently working on.

I'm a bit stuck on her hair. I kind of want to do something with xgen, but at the same time I want it to have the current look, just much more polished than the placeholder hair.

Any links to good tutorials on how to model or sculpt hair in Maya or Mudbox is much appreciated.

Check out "Creating Hair for Next-Gen Game Characters" at pluralsight.

I'm in the same boat, creating hair for the first time. This is the best step-by-step video I've found so far. I think I am going to do things a little differently from the video. I will dynamesh a rough sculpt of the hair, and then use that in Maya to quad-draw on my hair cards.

From there, you probably know the rest of the procedure. I look forward to seeing how yours turns out.

Cool, thanks! I'll check that out.

I haven't touched Zbrush yet, but I'm really looking forward to using it. Just want to become more fluent in Maya before I start on sculpting.

A low poly model I made based on a concept by Tim Mack, from the book Character Design Master Class.

    Pretty sweet book, mind.

Cool Lowres character! I dig the color palette on it!
Only minor thing I would change  would be some of plants/leaves rotations. Now they work well in the front and back but not from the side as seen in the left bottom image. ;)

You're totally right, they look really static.

I've now rotated them a bit.

    Thanks for the comment! :D
