Just wanted to showcase my most recent project its not something you see very often so i decided to give it a go. Its a cut away drawing showing the internals of the vehicle something i really enjoy looking at. I am very open to critiques and any comments you might have. If you have any questions just ask. I will include a sneak peek at the next project as well which is the engine for this land rover.
300 TDI engine as you can see the sump is missing this is going to be my next project to be released on my art station.
Hi @Zi0 i just used the normal high poly to low poly with a baked normal map. The normal maps were created in 3ds max. Texturing was done in substance painter.
For the cutaway, i love how much detail is in there! So much to look at In some cases you have a red line cut away and in others its a transparent fading gradient. I'm wondering what it would look like if you had clear lines delineating all the cutaways? Its a bit muddled at first glance, but not too much to work out as you look over it.
@aclund3 thanks for the comment , yes you are right about the cut aways, to me because i built it is very clear so it needs someone like you to look it over and see what is clear and what isn't. Im planning on doing more cut aways in the future so yes the clarity is very important to me. Glad you could work it out once you look at it. I guess it takes a basic under standing of cars to figure out which piece is which.
I love the cutout! So much details! How did u do that? did u actually cut out the model itself or use some kind of settings on the render? Maybe some mud on the bottom of the body and the tires, like it went off road
@Lokthar thanks, i made individual layers for each piece in 3dsmax and then rendered each layer with vray, I then assembled each layer in photoshop and then did a simple selection , feathered the edge and cut away that layer exposing the layers underneath.
@CybranM The engine bakes were a lot of fun yes , The engine is many objects, i thought i was going to have a very long time UV mapping but it wasnt to bad. Thanks for the comment.
