Here is a WIP of another head study after I finish this one I will go back to more stylized stuff. So far I tried to hit all the major shapes and started moving onto wrinkles.

Nice! Great expressions! They look really believable. The only thing I might think about is the area right behind the back of the jaw (below the ear). Usually this transition from jaw to neck in that spot is more smoothed out. Check a few photos and you will see what I mean. The last one looks good in that area.  I am thinking about the other 3.

Went back and started painting an old model I sculpted a while back trying to understand skin and skin maps.

Printed a few more masks before my printer crapped out. Was testing spray paint and noticed that paint fills in any artifacts if I paint multiple layers on top of each other.

Hi Everyone, Managed to smooth down my production pipeline since last time. Print time for these masks takes up to 7 hrs at 0.3mm layer height and I optimized the orientation to reduce supports. As for painting I use a combination of regular spray paint, polyurethane and lastly sand them to smooth the surface for whatever color needed. Been experimenting with different finishes and put some on Etsy to see if people were interested. The ones gone so far are the black and white ones. What color would you all suggest? And any tips on spray painting pla prints? The current brand I use is rust-oleum. Oh if anyone's interested the shop links in the signature. Let me know what you all think. Thanks

Tried printing and vacuum forming a couple different plastics for the container part. Been smoothing out the pipeline for making this bottle. Now wondering if this is a viable product. Any tips On vacuum forming bottles?Let me know what do you guys think. Thanks!

Hi Everyone, I decided to make a cookie cutter out of my baby's favorite character. Not much of a baker myself so i'd like to point out there are specific cookies that are meant to be cut and cookies that are not. The ones in the image are peanut butter cookies and they are very difficult to work with. The trick I used for these was to bake them flat first and then use the cookie cutter. Back to faces. Just a quick note when I post faces without reference its usually a person that I know and I either haven't asked if its okay to post those images or they have denied me posting them. Moving on here's a wip of a buddy. Will see how far I can realistically push it, then do a stylized version.

Been chipping away over time on some characters and ideas I've had for a while. These are personal concepts and I've been changing them as I go along. Aiming towards implementing these into a larger project. Let me know what you all think. Thanks

Whenever I do realistic studies I always run into the issue of the sculpt shape not matching the reference especially when rendering in other programs and I think the main part of the issue  is the focal length not matching up. Is there a rule of thumb for the camera focal length when sculpting/rendering?

A lot of photographers consider 50mm to be the closest to a human eye's focal length, while others argue that 35mm is more representative of what an eye sees. One guy tried calculating the equivalent camera focal length based a human eye's field of view angle, and concluded it to be 43mm (not that anyone makes camera lenses that size) https://petapixel.com/2012/11/17/the-camera-versus-the-human-eye/
As far as photo reference goes, a photographer can use any focal length they feel like depending on their artistic tastes or on the situation and environment. Longer focal lengths are popular with portrait photographers to get that blurry 'bokeh' background, making sure the subject is the main focus (pun intended). But those longer focal lengths are so different from how the human eye sees, that they can mess with our sense of depth. 


Long story short, if 35mm isn't working for you, maybe try 50mm?

Printed a working ukulele for my kid. Printed on an FLSUN with a .3mm height. Filled the layers with wood filler, sanded, primed and painted. Need recommendations though on a good scratch resistant clear coat paint spray. Overall it sounded pretty decent. I am considering making a small batch for my shop to see how people feel about them.

Saw your Hannya masks over on the 3d prints thread too, very nice. As for scratch resistant paint, I'm a car nut so really can't go past Nano-Clear and I believe their products will also bond with polycarbonate materials, as well.

I started and printed this lamp a while back and over time I kept modding it to both improve print quality but to also have LED lights with batteries in it. This was a fun learning experience, while having zero knowledge in wiring. Anyway heres the print, let me know what you all think.

A crawls attempt to get back towards making anything for the sake of my sanity. Feels good to post again.

Here is the resin print for the cinnamon roll turtle. Meant to be kind of a trinket. It's around 45mm long and roughly sprayed with gold paint

Here is the finished ukulele. Modeled in Zbrush/Maya, sliced in Cura and printed on an Flsun v400. The material is PLA from Hatchbox3d. After making the first bird ukulele, I was surprised to have a smoother time making this new concept and went through fewer iterations. Let me know what you all think. Thanks.
