Hot Glue Games is an independent
video game studio in Kanata, Ontario Canada. We’re a small passionate
team aspiring to make compelling video game experiences rich in story, emotion,
immersion and meaningful gameplay for PC and consoles.
We are seeking an in-house full time 3D Game Art
Generalist to work alongside our team on an unannounced PC title. We are
looking for an artist who is able to emphasize proper technique and methodology
while being adaptable to various styles. This artist will be responsible for
creating game ready assets including environments, characters, and weapons and
be comfortable with rigging, animations and texturing. The position is paid and
we are flexible and competitive in salary.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Model and texture game ready environments,
weapons, and characters defined by the game’s art style and create
variants of existing asset
- Model and texture game ready
character assets from high resolution sculpts.
- Have a keen eye for detail and a
clear understanding PBR workflow
- Maintain and communicate an
effective art pipeline
- Able to perform rigging and
animate character models Arrange content and integrate
final assets into the games engine
- Able to create a compelling and
cohesive art direction within as set of technical limitations
- Able to work in an active team
environment, providing input in all aspects and participating in the
creative process of the game
REQUIREMENTS:
- A passion for games with over 2
years of experience as a 3D game artist performing professional work or
personal projects
- Amazing game-focused art
portfolio of 3D and 2D work
- Experience with modeling in 3ds
Studio Max, Maya or equivalent
- Experience creating high
resolution character sculpts in Zbrush, Mudbox or equivalent.
- Experience with low-poly and
high-poly modeling of both organic and hard-surface assets
- Experience creating textures in
Substance Painter
- Understanding of 3D art
techniques and practices including UV mapping, texturing, rigging, and
animation
- Excellent communication,
time-management and organization skills with familiarity in agile project
management methodologies and tracking tools
- Ability to work in a team environment,
both providing and receiving feedback and critique
- Must be in the Ottawa area or
willing to re-locate
PLUSES:
- Great understanding of color
theory, silhouette and proportions
- Good understanding of LODs and
how to create LOD levels
- Basic experience in creating
particle effects and in-game effects
- Understanding of technical
limitations and making adjustments in asset optimizations
- Familiarity with shader
development and lighting techniques
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and
understanding of how animation affects geometry
- Shipped titles demonstrating
experience building game assets
- Knowledge in the use of various
software including Marmoset, Xnormal, Substance, Houdini and Adobe Suite
- Familiarity and minor technical
prowess with game engines such as UE4, Unity 5 and Stingray
- Experience with version control
systems such as Git, Perforce and SVN
- Experience in asset creation
for consoles such as Xbox One and PS4
