A huge loss. I'm deeply saddened to think about all the great art he still had in him that he didn't have the chance to make. A strong reminder not to let a day slip by without making art and learning something new.
He was a huge inspiration for me and I followed him every place I could. Just few days ago I watched his works on ArtStation and such a unique style and full of talent. Number one hard surface artist for sure. It´s hard for me to read this news. All the best to his family and friends. You will always be in my inspiration folder Paul!
This news hit me very hard, he was one of those larger than life figures with artistic talent and drive to make amazing work, Truly a sad day and loss to the world. RIP Paul.
oh man, that sucks. RIP ...this industry is small enough as it is..but it feels so much smaller when things like this happen. I never knew Paul..but so many of you all did..and it really makes me think about how connected we all are. RIP Paul...and my condolences for his friends and family.
One of the greatest hard surface artists there ever was, and an inspiration to thousands. His work changed the lives of many aspiring artists, and I believe will continue to do so for years to come.
I'm grasping for words but I don't know what to say. This has really hit me hard, I wish I had gotten to know him.
My little nitpicks and issues with my own art and what I have done in my career feels so trivial and petty in the perspective of a master dying so young.
So sad to hear this today. He is easily one of the most well known artists in the industry. About 4 years ago, before I was worth a shit as an artist, I messaged him on Polycount asking him how he made his models so functional looking. He took the time to respond to me, to help me out and give me advice even though I never met him. He made an immediate impact on me on how I approached modeling and design, and something I will never forget.
Sad to hear of his passing, indeed an undoubted artistic talent taken from us far too soon. Among his most recent work that'd stuck in my mind was the cockpit concept for the TFMS-9C "Thumper" spaceship (...as had already been posted above) I'd first laid eyes on it when he'd featured on another forum a year ago. What was most striking to me was, aside from the superb hardsurface modelling but in my honest opinion he'd also managed to convey a sense of an eeriely 'otherworldly' quality encapsulated in just that one piece...truly amazing work!
My thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends.
My heart is so heavy even after a nights sleep. Paul was obviously a huge inspiration to so many of us and he was really friendly and helpful when you spoke to him. I got no sense of ego from him, we has a rare gem and I'm so sad that he's gone so early
So much skill, so young, his hard surface skill was awe inspiring, some people when they die just leave the world at a loss not just of a person but of a influencer and cultural contributor, leaving the world smaller without them, and with our little world and Paul's skill, with all us that have stood in awe of his work and skill, I think we certainly can feel at a true loss at this point.
This is sad news. I didn't know him personally, but his art is incredibly inspiring, both to the greater community and to me personally. My heart goes out to his friends and family.
One of the most wonderful things about working in this industry, is the amazing people you get to meet and work with. Paul was one of those individuals.
To say I was blown away was an understatement. The details, the rendering, the presentation with his cut-away. Man I was in love with this thing! Then I checked out his website; and my jaw was on the floor. Man he was such an amazing artist with talent in spades, and I'll be buying Astroneer for sure! God speed Paul, paint some new galaxies with your new crew for us man!
Been thinking about him a lot since I heard the news yesterday. Far, far too young to go. My thoughts and condolences go out to his family and close colleagues.
