3DS MAX style geometry mirror preview in MAYA?

Does anyone know if there's a way to accomplish a mirroring preview like in 3DS MAX in MAYA?
I am accustomed to having a symmetry modifier on geometry while I work in MAX so I can see how the shape is forming in real-time. However, being new to MAYA, I am not seeing a similar function.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
