Hi everyone, are there any Xgen user around?

I'm having an issue with Xgen in maya 2017:
The hair only show up in the legacy viewport, not in viewport 2.0.
It seems like a bug, I never had this issue with previous versions of maya.
Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Edit: I made a couple more tests.
If I create a new scene and apply a xgen description to a simple sphere, it works in viewport 2.0. If I then import the scalp and assign a xgen description to it, it works as well.
But if I create a new scene and try to apply a xgen description directly to the scalp, it won't work in viewport 2.0. That's very very strange.
