Nah needs more time 80% of the people trying VR get sick after a short time, most people don't want to spend 3k on a PC to drive VR. The dumb money has been drying up here in the USA, most people are going for AR. I have been waiting for VR to take off for over 30 years, it is closer but not mainstream at all. I will take contract work for VR work and have but I wouldn't invest my own time on a VR title. Good news is you will have all the assets and always switch over to PC / Console.
Sorry for the lack of updates lately. We have been busy with character related tasks. Since Planetrism is all about the colony and immersion I decided to start focusing more on the character art. I started making this character months ago but for the last two months I´ve been putting all of my time into this. Our plan is to use this same model for NPC characters and player models (VR and maybe FP). I made this female version first to build all of the different systems from Substance Designer graphs to UE materials. I also made a rig for the body and face. Its pretty basic but should be enough for our needs. Here is a small and fast showcase video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM_C5NBEu38
Small update. Character side of things has been eating a lot of my time lately but now I have more time to focus next tasks. One of the key elements in Planetrism is understanding environments. When player know more about weather, ground, air... it will help to make choices and survive. Thats why its important to have different type of sensors for monitoring environments. First sensor is a pointcloud array. Here are few shots:
Small update again. I wanted to try if I can make one prop per day for one week. Here are the results. These are all different components that player can use to repair devices.
I made this landing pod model. This is used to transport people from orbital stations to exoplanets. Supports max four people with small cargo. Marmoset viewers here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/OWLVb
Small updates again. I´ve been busy making a lot of different stuff lately. I finished some new tents and worked a lot with our material library to support new assets and ideas.
Also I finished some debris models to fill the environment and show damage. This material system is also implemented into building models too. Vertex colors are controlling damage levels.
I´ve been working on with the space station scene lately and I will post more stuff related to that. I also manage to find some time to make this fire extinguisher that is functional in the game and also a nice prop to have More shots here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/o3wPJ
Sorry that I haven´t been posting any updates lately. I´ve been busy making things that are more behind the hood kind of stuff. For the last few days I´ve been focusing making this compound bow. Its still a long way to go to get this working in game but at least the model is done and rigged
