Renderman PxrLMLayer Masking Issues

Hey everyone! 

So in the grand view of things I'm trying to convert all my Vray shaders to Renderman...

Having some issues with the PxrLMLayer node. The masks aren't working for me. When I plug one in the mask just blends the two materials and doesn't actually cut out with the alpha. I'm not new the to concept of layered shading I've done it in Vray and Mental Ray. 

Here is my simple node tree to test it on a sphere.

Now I have one PxrLMLayer as green and the other blue. I have an alpha plugged into the LmLayer but it's not cutting it out at all. Do I need to use PxrTex file? Is there an easier method?

Any help would be awesome cause I do have a major deadline.
