Likely worlds first topology picture from 1523. Made a interpretation. Is there any wisdom in this?

This picture by Albrecht Dürer, made around 1523, is part of his stereometrical studies of human form, and by my knowledge, first "topological" picture of human head. It really seems quite odd, maybe silly, to us, but can anyone make this work? Is there a hidden wisdom in this?

Here is my artistic interpretation of the head. The proportions are different, but it's us to solve, for example, whats behind the head.

Not sure about first 'topology', looks more like a 'planes of a head' study.

Yeah, your're correct. It still is interesting to me, and in a sense "planes of head" is topology, or at least leads to it. And isn't it just what we are trying to do:  Make a human form with planes. I know that there is different ways to approach this, but in the big picture, for example, cubism had the same goal as we do, even if it isn't apparently clear; simplify organic form to most basic forms.
