I got permission to move away from this specific concept to shorten the back and relax the hocks, so that's gonna be my next move. And maybe relax the tail. I don't think i'll bother rigging it, but who knows.
Got some feedback on the anatomy/pose. Working away from the concepts now and referencing the atlas of animal anatomy. Shortened that back and repositioned the hocks.
really good start . Do you using any other references ? I think it would be a great push for your results! Try to take references from different angles to get a better understanding for the shapes Do you want to achive a realistic result or stylized ? keep working !
Alot of nat geo images of lions for faces and stuff.
For anatomy/muscles, i'm religiously referencing the Atlas of Animal Anatomy. Theres the plates online but i have it in person. Such a helpful book x__x Lions are so subtle in their muscles and forms.
As for style...definitely going for realism, to a point. I'm not a fan of hyper detailed/every hair must be placed precisely/every tiny pore must be alpha'd on kinda sculpts. So realism in forms but i like simplified details. My adhd brain gets shorted when things are too busy.

Softened up the cheeks and dialed in more on the skull structure.
