Here's one example, from Doom - the flesh and organs that are around the base of the gore nest. And the gore nest itself, to an extent. http://www3.pcmag.com/media/images/501801-doom-2016.jpg?thumb=y There's lots of hard surface tutorials out there, and plenty of vegetation ones, surely there are some "meat" tutorials?
Vegetation is not so different from "meat moss", I think the tutorials you are looking for are too specific, If you can understand the basics of a graphics program you can create practically anything in it without a tutorial. Also there is 1000 different ways to interpret "meat moss" no two of your examples are the same in either design or implementation.
I'd just sculpt it like I would any other prop, maybe add a pulsating effect to the material.
You're going to have a hard time finding tutorials for it because: 1) It's not very appealing subject matter 2) It's not very versatile as Scruples pointed out above. Almost every game needs some sort of hard surface or vegetation, most don't require gore.
Thanks Atticus! Hm, for pulsating, I can look at duplicating the look of those tubifex worm balls people always find. I think I might be able to use tips from stuff to make a "rain-covered" or wet surface as well. Plus some anatomy/organ diagrams of course.
I am surprised though, as I'd disagree with it being esoteric - Halo, Resident Evil, Doom, Starcraft, Silent Hill, System Shock, Scorn, Prey, and Dead Space all contain examples.
