Hey all! Giving this a shot.  I'll be doing a kind of Shadowknight character drawing inspiration from a lot of different sources such as chaos chosen knights from warhammer fantasy as well as various pieces of artwork i've found online.  I've done some rudimentary sketches compiling what i'm going for but i'm no 2d artist so largely i'm experimenting and winging it in terms of final design.

Here's where I'm at so far.  Its really muddy but i'll fix that when i take it into maya and back.

Hey all, hadn't been able to work on this for a couple week due to work and an indie game I've been a part of.  Back to show a bit of updates from the last day or so of work.  Obviously the leg plate is still super muddy but i'm about to clean that up now.





Love to hear what you all think of it so far.  I'm pretty excited about how its turning out but of course it's far from done.

Big dudes in armor entrants unite . Here's a cool idea, mix some materials in like leather, bronze, the pearls you see in the Warhammer concept art, there's a lot of cool stuff you can do there

@VinceDN I definitely like the idea of adding in some nice bronzes and some of those really vibrant gems that some warhammer pieces have.  I'm trying to avoid leather though because i want him almost feeling like he's incased in living metal.  Some of the parts that bend i'm going to do an almost volcanic looking cracked metal.

new version with shoulders and gauntlets.  I've also adjusted the feet to enlarge the claws.

An update with an added cape, loincloth, chains, and a mace.  The cloth will get tattered soon in zBrush.

How do you do tattered cloth in Zbrush Chronicle? Is it a mask and delete/Dynamesh sort of Workflow?

@VinceDN that was gonna be the plan roughly.  I haven't actually done it before but it seems reasonable.  I may just use Zbrush to tatter the edges a bit and do the rest via alphas in Substance.  the other option was to do the folds and stuff first, then go back over it with a really high ZInstensity brush and kinda add in the tatters with that, then have it auto polygroup by feature and delete groups that I like by eye.

Alright, finally got the retopology done after learning topogun and chugging along. Here it is.

I've done some material work in substance designer and came up with a few things that i'm going to be using on the character.




Havings some problems importing them and applying them correctly in substance painter but hopefully I get that resolved before the deadline. Honestly, i'm starting to worry if I have enough time.  Were I not having this issue, i'd probably be done already.
