Hey guys! So, I'm using Softimage 2015. I apply a material with an image sequence, and the contents have transparency. When I render it, though, the alpha is rendered as black. Can anybody help me make it transparent, please?
What renderer are you using? How is your material setup?
You can have your Texture-Node and then two Image-Nodes. The second node is set to "copy alpha to rgb". This can be used in a phong or similar shader to set the transparency.

Hey, I'm kind of a clueless 3D user over here... I'm using mental ray, I think, and I'm using Softimage 2015.
This is how it's set up. Pretty basic, I just applied the material I wanted. I chose a phong because I'm not looking for anything fancy, just want the texture to speak for itself.
You need to enable the "use alpha" checkbox in the transparency/reflection settings of the phong shader. Otherwise just use a second "image-node" and set it to "copy alpha to rgb" and connect it directly with the "transparency-color". Currently you can´t see all the inputs because you have them collapsed. Just klick on the icon on the top right corner of the phong to show all inputs.

Thanks for the help, .Wiki! I had "use alpha" enabled. To solve my problem, I expanded the input box, like you said, and connected the image to transparency and it worked!
