How to modify baked normal map in SP?

Hi, I baked a normal map from a high poly mesh with all tiny details on it and I want to modify it by smoothing or removing some of them. The SP documentation says I just have to use neutral normal map color on normal map channel to remove initial details. But this doesn't really work.  When I paint a default normal color or even change it to any other color and paint them on a layer's normal map channel, it keeps all baked details instead of erasing them.  I tried to change blending modes of the layer between three normal map blending modes, but it doesn't do much, all baked details stay.

So how to modify them?

Ok problem solved. I changed a normal map mix mode in texture settings to "replace", then I disabled all normal map channels on all layers and only left the bottom one at which I dropped a baked normal map from texture stack. Then I created a new layer on top and changed its mode in normal channel to "passthrough" and voila, I could paint any details away
