Hello there,

I'm trying to create some manly jewelry with some chainlinks. Creating them isn't a problem but unwrapping them is.

My plan was to create an chainlink in 3DSmax and UV unwrap it there. Once i did that i imported it in Zbrush (still has it's UVs here obviously), but once i turn it into an insertmesh it doesn't remember them.

I was expecting this to happen really but how else am i supposed to properly create this mesh without having to unwrap chain link per chain link? So if there a way to get your insertmeshes to remember its UVs?

Thanks for helping!

What version are you using? 4r7 stacks the UVs. As long as you don't split the insert geo away from the subtool that you are inserting it on it should be fime.

    Hi,

I remember coming across an #askzbrush video along these lines. Not sure if it applies here but maybe it will help.

Ok it seems it DOES work now if i don't split it. I suppose i'll just have to export the entire subtool then to 3dsmax or something and just split them to different parts there?

Thanks, this video explains it perfectly. I did start out on a mesh with UVs, but since it had multiple subdivision levels i ended up freezing or deleting them and somehow losing my UVs which is why i lost them on my IMM brush aswel.

    Thanks for the help everyone!
