I can already see, that you have something, others doesn't. It gets very, very interesting, as soon, as you start to play with lights in loose colour studys. This seems to be yours. Anyway, you are always sounding kind of unsatisfied.
Maybe you are expecting more from yourself than the 30 min. quality but never have been convinced enough to take it really up to the end? I am just writing this, as this is happening quite often to me. Losing interest (or time, as I am full time freelance in other creative section) too early to bring it to a detailed level I would be convinced with, but comparing my work with the work of others who spend days, weeks, months to finish one mindblowing piece. Or compare with others painting every day for a couple of hours.
I see you have everything a painter need, except a bit more self-confidence to bring pieces to next level.
On the other hand - I once wrote an highly talented artist how he is able to make everything he is posting looking so beautiful? Answer: "I am simply not posting everything."
Knacki, just having seen the original Albrecht Dürer Rabbit, and the grass piece. Man, this guy was a real genius reading volume with every single stroke!
Thanks Knacki, I definitely have a bit of a confidence issue. I know I'm still learning, but every time I end up comparing my stuff with anything on ArtStation it seems like an impossible goal. Anyway It's just a matter of me making the time and not making excused so I can finally finish something. I've recently started taking a digital painting and a digital sculpting class, so I'm hoping that will be enough motivation to finally finish something. We're still in the early stages, so I've only been doing studies so far. I'll try to arrange them so I can post them here.
I was looking through your work at the beginning of this thread and it's clear you're improving. You're tones and contrast work in particular. Can't wait to see more, keep it up
These are fantastic pieces and they really show a growing mastery of brush stroke efficiency. I've been looking for a short project to improve my nascent painting ability, I might steal the idea of painting the Settlers of Catan board pieces.
your form is looking really good, but I think you need to do a bit more studies on how metallic work, right now it reads more like a dielectric material.
I've been working on Sam Nielson's colour and light course from Schoolism. Here's the exercise for lesson 4. I feel like I've hit a wall with this one, any critiques?
Nice subsurface scattering going here! I'd say the grapes, they look out of place, not sure if it's the lack of occlusion, or the streaks of texture that show up through the subsurface scattering (i went outside and put some red grapes on a table with same sun exposure, there is horizontal streaky texture that showed up from the light passing through) The leaves might be a bit stiff too you use of color and light is very nice!

Also a chameleon/lighting study
Daily spitpaint: mushroom trees
Also took my first stab at sculpting tonight (wip)
30 minutes, prompt: The Sculptor
Had an idea, but I don't think I stuck the landing
Also tomorrow I start a digital painting class, which I'm really excited for! Hopefully I can get some more finished pieces out of it
30 minutes, prompt: Mermaid

In the meantime, a couple more prompts
30 minutes, prompt: Root System
30 minutes, prompt: Futurism
30 minutes, prompt: Lasso Master
Note that I did NOT paint the background, and a ref was provided for the reflection
Better, but still needs improvement.
lotet: I agree, I got frustrated with that painting and gave up too early. Here's a WIP of a second attempt
