Is there a way to view a single post within a thread for linking purposes?
Also as an extension, saving posts under a favorite tab. The favorites page would need to separate between posts and threads but it would be useful when people post breakdowns/tutorials. (It could also contribute to ranking by automatically adding a point to a post that is favored.
Regarding single post, before the update, there was a number to the top right you could use, however the link has now been moved to be on the time and date of your post, although it doesn't show only one post, is does jump down to the relevant post.
Thanks, I knew that there was a system in place before the site update but I never knew where it went post update.
Rewording view a single post. Can we be able to view a single post so we don't have to load the rest of the page (which would be useful in giant art dumps)?

Both added to the OP.
As far as saving post links, that's a possible use case for the wiki. Granted it's not as simple as a button press, but it's pretty easy to click the Wiki, click your name, edit/paste/save. I basically use the wiki as a bookmarking system. And it can be organized if you want, that's why I made the various pages, as a place to keep things I find interesting.
Regarding the spambot infestation that has been happening recently, would it be possible to 1) limit thread creation to a handfull an hour and 2) temp ban when an account receive a certain amount of flags within an certain timeframe?
I just increased the flood control limits. You can now make up to 3 new threads every 4 minutes (max time limit the tool allows). We'll see if that helps.
We have 2 spam filter plugins, which do catch a lot.
We also use IP range blocking, when possible. The last batch of spam shared some of their IP with longtime legit members, so I didn't want to block the whole range. But in general this is a good tool.
When a post is flagged as Spam by 5 users, it is auto-removed for moderation. Mods can also manually remove it immediately.
I'll ask our developer to lower the spam threshold to 2 flags. (If anyone tries to abuse this tool to maliciously remove legit posts, they'll get a stern warning and/or ban.)
3 threads every 4 mins is SUPER GENEROUS. It should be more like 3 threads per hour max....
About flagging as SPAM... We have to flag the user. Not the post. If the bot make 10 threads, the spam flags gonna get spread out. We need to flag spam the user, so the bot itself is at least temporarily put on hold.
I'm guessing that you could increase the amount of post an user can post depending on how old the account is and how many post they done. This way, new users won't be able to post many, and lurking spam users won't either.
I changed the flood control settings. Now it only allows 1 thread per minute, and 1 reply per 30 seconds. If it's too restricting let me know.
Yeah I accidentally banned my own IP, haha. I was trying to deal with the latest Korean spam influx, and entered an IP range to ban them, without realizing my own IP was also going to be affected. Strange that Vanilla would allow this to occur with their tools! I put in a request for a fix.
Banning is very rare except for spam. There is a moderator-viewable note in each Profile, but not a user-viewable note. Will add this idea.
Fixed this:
Subforums list should show the most recent reply in each.
We now have an indication of the latest activity in each subforum. Before, these were just blank section names. It's not perfect, but it's a step in the right direction.
On the topic of the subforums I have to ask, are all the unused forums in Technical Talk really necessary? Example the idTech forum has zero posts, not sure when it was created, Source forum hasn't had a post since May and 19 of the 26 posts in the C4D forum are all from the same user.

People asked for them. Yeah, I'll kill the idTech one, since that's just dead space. Most of the Source action is over in CS:GO, but it still has some good info in it.
Couldn't the posts in those forums just be moved to the root of tech talk? I wouldn't be objecting if it weren't for the fact that they are taking up so much space at the top of one of the most active forums on the site. I assume this is the same reason why a lot of the old stickies are now unstuck.
I've compactified the header links. It now takes two clicks to get to the forum root, but it's probably better to simplify the header and keep the forum links organized.
One thing I can't find anywhere is a classic Quote button in new post menu, where I can just copy and paste a fragment of someone's post and it'll add quote tags around it.
Currently I have to either write tags manually or quote the whole thing and remove all the unnecessary stuff, which is not very convenient
In the meantime, we also have the "Quote" tool in the Paragraph dropdown button. You can select some text in your post, press the button, and it puts it in a Quote box. It won't put the writer in the box header, but maybe easier to use. Anyhow, the username should be an @ mention, but it's not. Another bug/wish.
It's probably been brought up a few times, but it would be nice if thread lists *all* showed the last poster, as opposed to some showing the creator and some showing the last poster. It's quite confusing ...
Forum index shows avatar of last poster (and date), but subforums/sections, where threads are listed, shows the avatar of the original poster and creation date
How do I change the color of text in my signature?
Edit: The WYSIWYG thing isn't working very well. I have an orange | character in my editing view (not sure how I made it orange in the first place), but my signature is just gray in the forum view.
WYSIWYG is definitely not optimal, sorry about that. We can't override the formatting as we can elsewhere because the forum software is serving the formatting in dynamic HTML. We've asked the forum software designers, but they've declined to change it. It's one of the reasons we'd like to move to an open source version. That will take quite a bit of dev time on our part, so it's not a quick thing. It's in our road map though.
Option to "automatically favorite any threads I participate in"
The forum designers said they won't add this feature. Instead, they suggest to disable the option "Notify me when people comment on discussions I've participated in" and manually click "Add To Favorites" when you want a notification. This is what I do, and it works OK, except it's frustrating sometimes when I forget to click it.
Anyhow, things are still moving forward on other wishlist items and bug fixes. I'll let you know as I get updates.
@Bek said: suggestion: display moved threads as read (grey) rather than unread (green).
I looked into this. I like this idea. No easy way to do this unfortunately. The "moved" text is served as regular html, no specific tagging, so we can't override it in CSS.
Good thing is you shouldn't be seeing a lot of Moved posts. It takes more work to tag something as Moved, because Closed:Moved is the default. We mark something as Moved when we're telling people "hey this kinda doesn't belong here". But seeing as how it's annoying, we don't use it a lot.
Apologies if it's been mentioned but it'd be nice to have the option in notifications "when someone quotes your post." I've found that op will sometimes reply this way instead of @(name) and I miss their reply completely.
There's a bug where a Quoted person's profile link breaks when editing the post.
If we changed it to a Mention (@name) then it would both link to their Profile and send them a notification (if they had that option enabled in their prefs).
Hello, Small suggestion, i saw some people posting giff`s in threads and i was wondering if we can have something like this when you right click. I want to be able to pause the giff. Thanks.
Why not implement something like a image size cap of 1-2mb max per image as a pre requisite to actually post a reply? Something correlated happens at the WAYWO, but as a rule. And as seen daily a lot of people infringe it. But with a file cap as a site feature stuff like this will never happen again. I believe this would benefit both the userbase, as threads load faster, and the financial side of mantaining this beloved place in the long run. There is absolute no reason to allow huge png's here.
Artstation has something where, if you start to upload a Marmoset Viewer file bigger than the 15mb size cap, you get a warning pop up, and you have two options: either you reduce it's size or don't upload.
Not directly the forum but i dunno where else to post, so it'd be cool if you guys sold your sweaters again. The mug is looking a bit lonely in the store.

There were issues with the printing of garments which is why they removed them from the store.

we could see why a certain individual was banned
might be good for reminding people that a certain rule exists
