why limit image size for the reason of browsing waywo? we're an art site, we want to see the details. why not implement actual thumbnails that link to full size rather than squash it?
Large images make it slow to browse. Which especially sucks on mobile if you have a data limit, or are in an area with poor coverage. Large nicely-compressed previews might be a good compromise. Linking to full-size is on the wishlist.
I really want to limit the signature options. A single line only, no styling like bold or sizes, no colors only gray. We've already disabled image embedding.
I find some of the signatures really distracting. Some really pull my eyes away from the threads. I feel like this is a really bad thing. Substance over style!
This forum layout is horrible IMO. To view if someone has replied to your post, you must go into the thread to check unless you can memorize the post count as there is no "who replied last" column. I just went into the Chivalry forum and was wondering if things were dying down there, its hard to believe that i can't find that information on that page. Because each thread doesn't have a date of last reply, i cannot gauge the activity of that forum. So i would like to ask for the last reply date and poster name for the whole forum. I thought that these are features that were considered great additions to modern forums, not sure why they'd be removed.
Also, when i view the forum on my phone its even worse, its just shows the thread, thats it! Sure, i could click on each thread to see if someone replied and who it was, but why not just supply that information, thats what computers are so great for. I don't understand it, its such a strange decision. If you look at how much information is supplied viewing the Allegorithmic forums, thats what i would like to request. When i bought a phone with a bigger display, I was hoping to see MORE of the internet and forums i love to visit like Polycount, not less. Edit: Rhetorical question: Why is text double spaced when editing? How would that be useful? Surely adults can handle editing the text themselves?
There should be some kind of indication that a post has been edited and maybe even archive the original post. It is annoying when you reply to a post and then the post you replied to is edited so that your post just seem out of nowhere unless you actually quote it all. It's kinda damaging to the discussion climate and making some threads hard to follow.

Maybe you can do something about quoting. Some people simply can't do it in a sensible matter, just look at this: http://polycount.com/discussion/173041/better-call-saul-bob-odenkirk-likeness-sculpt The entire thread is quoted in a response and it makes the thread annoying to view. Maybe disable images in quotes? It serves little function to be able to quote a image and if said person has not provided any text in the post the @-function works just as good.
I don't think you should disable images, as people often are talking about something specific regarding the image and having to scroll up to see what they are talking about it a pain. But maybe turn them into thumbnail you can press and get enlarged image? I noticed that some sites makes it so one the recent parent quote is viewed fully, and the nested quotes is showing just the users name and one line.
Well, I've been looking into some of the formatting things.
Why does the post editor not look like the eventual post?
Vanilla has hard-coded the editor styling into the html, so I can't override it with CSS. Changing this will be expensive, but we might do it anyway. Pending.
Can we change the editor to HTML mode, or to BBCode mode?
I tested each of the editor modes. WYSIWYG mode has the least problems. The others are really limiting or are busted in key ways. I can post my notes on this if you're interested. Probably more than you want to know.
What is up with the doubled ranks in my Profile page?
This should now be fixed for everyone. If you still have a doubled rank/title, please let me know.
Thumbnails broken in the Forum root.
Fixed.
Can we please have <iframe> support?
Won't fix, sorry. This would be a security hole.
A list of the html tags you can't use: <applet><form><input><textarea><iframe><script><style><embed><object><select><option><button><fieldset><optgroup><legend>

WAYWO thread limits are a pain to use?
We're looking at ways to improve this, make it less work for you.
Marmoset embed?
Oh yes! On the way!
Well, I can't list all the things that are works in progress. Just too many to list. I wanted to let you know however that things are still moving behind the scenes.
My sketchbook and a few others are one long page full of images and it takes a while to load. I was thinking about editing it, split the images up and have maybe one, or two per post but then I'd be bumping it a lot, right? Maybe have a limit to the page length when it gets too long split it to another page. Or some way to split it manually without bumping.

It doesn't take too long to load, at least for me. Compared to many others your loads very quickly. I bet because you're using sensible image sizes, and not using PNGs.
Anyhow, the forum only has a global setting for number of comments per page, and it's currently 50. I don't really see a good reason to reduce it for everyone though.
One thing that would help you, is for you to only include one or two images per post, instead of 10 or more per post. If you wanted to post the same volume, just post more often. That would more quickly get you to the 50 posts-per-page limit. It would also bump your thread more often. Just an idea.

I think it would be great to make all threads that I have commented in have something to signify that I have commented eg the title text changes colour or goes bold or something. I just want to know what Ive seen before and what I havent and keep checking on stuff that I was interested in without following it or favoriting it.
I'd like the option to filter by thread replies or thread views in the advanced search. If I'm looking for a popular topic it instantly helps cut down the spam

How about an option for when set someone to be ignored, that you don't see their posts? Just did that as a test for the current spammer, but I can still see his posts. Btw, is there no spam filter, that stops someone from spamming several posts in a row?
I removed the Korean spam, and banned them by IP range. Not sure how those hundreds of posts from 10 new users got past our multiple layers of defense. We have two spam plugins, and (supposedly) flood control as well. I am contacting our host to figure it out.
Can we have Gfy/.webm video embed ? It's like GIF, but it takes up WAY less filesize. Like, 12-15 times better compression rate.
Why not use Youtube or Vimeo instead? If it's just to share funny GIFs, not sure it's worth the dev time.
Well, this also includes Character/Prop animated Turntable. But I suppose we can just use Youtube. Bandwidth though. Same reason we encourage JPG and not all in PNG. No ?
Can we have badges for the amount of years on polycount, a badge for each contest won/runner up and some milestone badges? (Recap badge is already mentioned in the list already)

Anyone have contrary thoughts on this?
<<=== like mine.... if I could have regular text in different color !! Grey is too hard to see on gray background.

Keep your wishes coming, we're actively working on things.

I think this works in most browsers.
Hmm I wonder if <font> tags would work?
Some 60px text. Hey whaddaya know?

Neat idea. I'll add this to the list.
(sheesh, added)
edit: WHAT HAVE I DONE!?
Added to the list, plus I think it'd be good to add badges for Banners and Frontpages too.
For example: If a new account makes a post and it is flagged, it should go to moderation on the 1st flag (or 3rd) rather than the 5th.

http://polycount.com/discussion/175766/wayda-said-that-she-knew-rose#latest
It is at 4 flags at the moment and the post is still visible.
As an alternative, we could increase the barrier to entry, by adding more registration steps. I'll look into this.
I'll add the Ignore/visibility idea, good one.
