Just a place to post some of my doodles, and maybe get some feedback!
Here's one that I am currently working on, I'll show you some progress shots.
These are some references I have been using for some rough ideas.
Here was my first attempt. I was inspired by the Naughty Dog substance talks and set out to make a sandy temple floor texture. Although I like the initial concept, it felt a bit too stylized.
With this one I feel like i was able to tighten up the realism a bit, but I still felt it was a little stiff. Especially in the shapes I was creating for the sand.
And here is where I am currently. I feel like I have really started to get some good sand shapes working. I think now I really need to nail down the stones surfaces and coloring, so expect some more updates soon!
Any feedback is appreciated! Also thanks to
@Meloncov and
@r3d from the Polycount slack for pointing these helpful critiques out!

Keep up the good work and if you wouldn't mind, post some of the substance files.
Thanks Justin. I will try to get some .sbs' posted soon, ATM they are just tangled messes =D. Here are some new WIPs.
First thing that catches my eye is all the grass seems to be all the same color, length, and thickness. This makes it look like cut grass that has been gathered up and scattered on top of dirt (where there's no other grass present). Or it looks like hay on the floor inside a barn, or thatch used as packing material, that kind of thing. Unnatural.
The snow looks good to me, I like the melted pattern, and how some of the grass is poking through. I prefer the grass in the first version, because it's longer. But I like how the snow in the 2nd version has flattened the grass more.
