Okay, with my freakout over, it looks pretty neat, but as most other programs its missing one thing: Be able to add other chat protocols. It's always the problem, that people are all using different programs and while it would be nice to get them to use one, its not going to happen.
Might install it and see how it is, since people I play games with seem to like it.
Dont forget about the Polycount Google Hangouts then... Not sure why they weren't included.

Seriously tho, if someone has any admin privileges it would be nice for us to have the Greentooth logo and the ability to upload our work directly to the main chat!
Also Polycount's Discord is quite active, so people don't be shy and join us!!

Who set up the polycount discord? It's been sitting there unmanaged for quite a while now, when some really simple changes (like already mentioned in this thread; change icon, add more channels, allow images) would improve it substantially. having just two generic channels is pointless. Can this be set up, or can some more admins with permissions to create channels be added? Have a look at the Allegorithmic discord for example, there are plenty of channels and it's obvious what chat goes where.
If you do get around to it; the channels could just be a mirror of the forum categories, ie #tech talk, #unreal, #general, #WIP, #showcase...
Houdini Discord outgrow the Polycount one in just 3 moths of existence. But I manage it and work hard to make it cool place. We already have many unique solutions applied that solve some problems that other Discord servers have.
I just found this thread. I'm interested in joining the chat group I hope I can learn more when joining the chat group.

If you haven't joined, or been in a while, things are changing. I've written a bot which thanks to Cheeseplus, is now permanently hosted, and adds a handful of extra functions, as well as some perks for members who actively chat etc.
We also have a room for job postings, which often attracts posts from developers looking for new talent! I try to cross post these to twitter when I can, but I can't catch them all, so it's definitely better for you to be there to see then when they crop up! You can even post your profiles etc., in the job seeing room to let people know you're looking for work!
So what are you waiting for?! Get on board if you're not already! If you are already in there, stop being so shy and chat a bit more 😂

As much as Slack might be cool, discord at least allows you to customize things like dark mode, and it doesn't just automatically switch itself back whenever the hell it wants to 🤣
We also have chat and video sharing so you can join or host some sessions to show off your stuff or share your tips and tricks to help others be as awesome as you!
