Hello all, i've just recently started on CS:GO whilst taking a break from TF2. I'm currently studying animation so i've always wanted to model hats for TF2 but never got around to doing it. However, this contest has given me a reason to start making skins, so critique away! I'll love the criticism.
Anyway, the theme is 70s and 80s sci-fi, so i've tried to make an artwork that was sort of like a mash up of aliens that were designed for use in movies in the 70s and 80s. Hence the name Amalgamation, meaning the result of a combination. I've also always loved the posters that were designed during those years, therefore i will be using a similar colour palette and drawing styles used in those posters.
So here's my rough layout plus the inspiration pictures:

Also here is a visualization of it on the AWP, im still not sure which gun to put it on yet.
I've transferred it onto the UV's and started painting on it via a PSD Network.
Here is the UVs and the test render.
I finished most of the PSD Network and i tried to tweak the hue of the skin
And here is me tweaking the lightness of the skin, its not black its just a really dark purple.
I tried to make AK-47 | Amalgamation happen, but it's UVs are just terrible. I'm gonna have to restart another day
So here is the planning thing, i decided to put all the pieces of the UV together and paint it together, then when im done i can cut up the pieces like a puzzle and put it over the UV. Trying to make everything fit together was a huge pain but i did it after a couple of hours.

Although your last images suggest, that you made it work just fine
Awesome skin, certainly waiting to see this one when it is done
Potential poster? I'll work more on it.

Thank you everyone, this has truly been a fruitful experience and I have learned a lot from this. Good luck to everyone!
