Setting up Photoshop for Texturing?

Can you guys point me to some tips and tricks to bend photoshop to your will when you bring in your UV render? Just some things to really streamline the process, like masking tips/techniques, layer management etc etc? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe you are on the right track, like masking and layer management. You just need to implement those to your particular model that you are texturing. There is no real streamlined process per se...

Using a program that allows texturing directly onto the model is nice, like 3D coat, Zbrush, and Mudbox.

Working in the program itself will make you more efficient. One tip I suggest is placing the UV maps on the top layer. If you could share what you are texturing, that may help with answering the question.

You can download some psd's from PhilipK's tutorials to learn a thing or two about good layer management and masking.
